Donna’s Story: “Just a Normal Family Life – with a Lot of Love”

  • Fostering Stories

Donna is a long-term foster carer with Liverpool, currently caring for two girls.

For Donna, fostering is about offering children the kind of love, stability, and support every child deserves.

“Fostering is just normal family life,” Donna says. “It’s about being there for a child who needs someone in their corner.”

Donna speaks passionately about the everyday joys of fostering—like watching the girls grow in confidence, seeing them thrive at school, and knowing they feel safe and supported. Donna believes that the turning point often comes when children realise they are genuinely cared for.

“Once they know you really do care and want the best for them, that’s when you see the change.”

Donna acknowledges that it isn't easy and there will be a few hiccups along the way but 'nothing that can't be sorted'.

Her message to anyone thinking about fostering is simple: “If you’ve got that feeling that you can help and give a child a future—just get out there and give it a go!”

Donna’s story is a reminder that fostering isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being caring, supportive and passionate about making a difference.
